Dear parents,
I am excited to be coming back to St. James after the March Break. I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself as the Grade Three teacher at St. James School. I am very much looking forward to providing your child with an enriched and exciting learning environment.
To assist your child in meeting curriculum and school expectations of the Grade Three classroom and school environment, I have compiled a few guidelines to aid you.
1. Please ensure that all items belonging to your child - especially clothing, are clearly labelled with your child’s name. This will ensure that found articles can be quickly identified and returned to their owner.
2. A pair of indoor running shoes will be required for your child throughout the entire school year. This is to ensure a clean classroom environment (to keep the dirt and wet outside), and to allow your child to travel safely and comfortably throughout the school. These shoes should be appropriate for wear in the gym (running shoes, no hard or elevated soles).
3. Children are encouraged not to bring toys/gadgets from home into the classroom. If they are brought to play with at recess, they are to be kept in their backpack until recess time.
4. Each child has been provided with an agenda. The consistent use of the agenda is helpful in establishing and maintaining positive work habits. I encourage you to consult your child’s agenda and return it to school on a daily basis. You can expect to see important notices, memos, assignments etc. in it.
As parents/guardians, you are well aware of the fact that you are the primary influence in your child’s education. Becoming involved and providing guidance in your child’s daily learning process will provide them with an enhanced experience.
If you have any comments, questions or concerns at any time throughout the school year, please do not hesitate to contact me by: sending a note to school with your child, dropping-in to see me before or after school, or by calling the school and leaving a message at the office.
I look forward to a great year!
